Assistant Management Accountant (Maternity Cover – 10 Month Fixed Term Contract)

About Us:

A well-renowned and internationally recognised Engineering business, backed by a global US multinational business looking for a skilled Assistant Management Accountant to join our finance team on a 10-month fixed-term maternity cover contract. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to the financial success of our organization, whilst having oversight of a range of different finance functions.

Key Responsibilities:

– Manage debit/credits, prepayments, and accruals to ensure accurate financial reporting

– Maintain balance sheets and conduct regular reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy

– Oversee cashbooks and cashflows, monitoring liquidity and cash positions

– Prepare and submit VAT returns in compliance with regulatory requirements

– Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and financial analysis

– Support the Management Accountant in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis

– Collaborate with other departments to gather financial data and provide insights for decision-making

– Assist in ad-hoc financial projects and tasks as assigned

Requirements:

– Proven experience as an Assistant Accountant or similar role

– Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices

– Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage)

– Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

– Ability to work independently and as part of a team

– Strong communication and interpersonal skills

– Experience in managing fixed-term contracts preferred but not essential
