About the Client:

A well established and nationally recognised Property & Construction business that has been going through a period of sustained rapid growth is looking for an actively engaged Financial Controller. With an organised finance function already established, this role will be reporting directly in to the Managing Director and be involved in all aspects of the business and company direction. Being a visible member of the senior management team, the Financial Controller will dictate strategy backed up by sound reporting and positioning of accounts.

Located a short commute from Cambridge, this role in Ely is ideal for anyone located in the local area or those who can commute to the office on a regular basis.

About the Role

The primary function of the role will be to act as a Budget Holder across the different departments internally and the key point of contact for all things related to finance operations,

They key responsibilities of the Financial Controller will be:

• Oversight of accurate and timely management reporting (monthly, quarterly, biannual and annual)
• Management of the 24 month P&L with balance sheet and cashflow forecasts
• Co-ordinating the annual budgets and forecasting for different departments linked to cost drivers
• Managing the external audit process and production of statutory accounts
• Overseeing the pricing strategy in line with other senior management
• Responsibility for all accounting functions and nurturing the close knit finance team
• Identify and lead strategic projects to improve overall business efficiency
• Manage any HMRC enquiries/investigations
• Working with Managing Director and other senior management to continuously develop and evolve working practices and procedures
• Implementing KPI’s to analyse departmental performance
• Conduct audits of financially relevant expenditures and resource utilisation
• Ensuring best value for money on renewal of services and insurances

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate for the role of Financial Controller will:

• Be a qualified and chartered accountant (ACCA/CIMA)
• Have experience working in a commercially focussed role
• Previous experience or knowledge of leading a transactional finance/month end team
• Experience of working in SME or large businesses
• Have exemplary communication skills both written and verbal
• Be passionate and driven about leading a finance first business
• Advanced user of excel and confident with accounting software
• Enthusiastic and entrepreneurial with a team focus
