About the Client:

A growing £50m turnover business in the Procurement & Supply chain sector that is going through a period of transformation and finance team consolidation. With 10+ offices across the country, they are well established and have recently gone through an acquisition. The business is looking to build out a productive accounts team that will offer lots of room for progression for the right individual and ability to work closely across the business with multiple stakeholders. The newly created role of Assistant Financial Controller is vital for their continued growth and development plans. Located in South Manchester (Wythenshawe/Didsbury), just off the M60 and M56, they are easily accessible for anyone commuting locally or from further afield with parking on-site.

Job Description:

A newly created Assistant Financial Controller position working very closely with the Financial Controller to develop and oversee elements of the finance team, with ample room for progression. Day to Day duties will include:

• Provision of appropriate daily, weekly, monthly & quarterly management accounting information to support the needs of the business.
• Reconciliation of Monthly reporting prior to sign off.
• Ownership of Month End processes, oversight of transactional team accounts preparation.
• Lead the preparation for the annual external audit. Including the collection of documents prior to audit and working closely with auditors throughout the field work period.
• Oversight of Intercompany accounts and trust accounts
• Support to the Finance Controller/ Finance Director in the generation of financial forecasts.
• Support to the Finance Controller/ Finance Director in the generation of annual/strategic plans.
• Assist in the maintenance and reconciliation of balance sheets.
• Help the team with Bank reconciliations.
• The design, build & maintenance of “Excel/VBA” models.

The Successful Applicant:

The successful applicant for the role of Assistant Financial Controller will:

• Be located a commutable distance from South Manchester (Wythenshawe/Didsbury)
• Ideally be a finalist or newly qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
• Have previously been responsible for duties including Month End, reconciliations and intercompany accounts
• Be a confident user of Excel (VLOOKUPS, Pivot Tables, VBA)
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Any experience of management would be preferred
• Previous experience of working in a growing SME company would be advantageous
• Be committed to qualification in the near term with view to move into an FC role
